Andreas Hansen trained at the Kunsthåndværkerskolen (the School of Arts and Crafts) and at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts' School of Furniture Design. He has since worked in furniture and industrial design.
He has had his own design studio since 1963, designing furniture, lamps and home furnishings, mainly for businesses based in Denmark.
At the beginning of his career, Andreas designed a series of new and inventive lampshades for LE KLINT.
They featured sharp zigzag pleating that set them apart from the company's earlier models. Like the remainder of the range, Andreas Hansen's lamps are pleated by hand even though they are not the classic LE KLINT pleats.
Andreas Hansen has designed many lamps that has enhanced the lines of LE KLINT’s traditional lampshades.
The Le Klint 157 hand-folded geometric pendant shade was designed by Andreas Hansen. This design from 1965, is another of his striking, angular designs where the foil has been folded to create dramatic peaks and troughs. The 157 is renowned as the Solomons seal flower that features a perennial polygonatum multiflorum.
