Arabia Moomin Mug: Ninny

Arabia Moomin Mug Ninny powder pink. This is the first time that Ninny has appeared on any Moomin ceramics. She comes from the short story, The Invisible child, which tells the moving story of a young girl who stays with the Moomins but is invisible due to being small and mistreated. When she arrives with them, she is afraid to talk, play or laugh and the only sound she makes is from a small bell around her neck.

Due to the kindness and consideration of the Moomins she begins to get her confidence back and slowly turn visible again. Moomintroll gets her to play with him and teach her games and when she finds the courage to show her feelings – she gets so angry, and laughs so hard, that the jetty she is standing on shakes and her little face appears.

The Moomins are the central characters in a series of books and a comic strip by Finnish writer Tove Jansson.
