Louis Poulsen PH 4/3 Table Lamp.
Louis Poulsen PH 4/3 table lamp is part of the iconic three-shade system originally designed by Poul Henningsen in 1925/26, which by design directs most of the light downwards. The shades for the PH 4/3 are made from spun aluminium and painted white to provide uniform light distribution. The PH 4/3 Metal series was launched in 1966. Its design follows the general three-shade system based on the logarithmic spiral, with the centre of the light source positioned at the centre of the spiral. This light is a simplification of the light designed in 1929. The light won him the highest distinction at the world exhibition in Barcelona.
The PH series of lamps consists of 30 lamps, including pendants, floor and table lamps. The original lamp shades were made of metal and painted underside in different colours to produce either diffused warm or cold light, with the glass variants appearing later on which provide an all round light. Poul Henningsen was the first designer to use a scientific approach to his lighting designs and produced some of the most iconic and world renowned designs to the market, most of which are still available today. A true master of Danish lamps and lighting.
